Row with Black Mountain Rowing Club!
Whether you want to learn to row, want to come back to rowing, or you are new to Canberra and are looking for a club to join, you will find a warm welcome at Black Mountain. We love to compete and we enjoy getting together socially.
I
want to row {Please note - 2008-09 course program fully subscribed}
Our well-recognised rowing course offers 5 x 2 hour sessions. By the end of the course you will be able to row but, of course, rowing is a continuing learning experience and gaining higher levels of competency takes time. The Club sometimes runs free transition courses for those learn-to-rowers who join the Club to consolidate skills.
Anyone can learn to row from the age of 12 on. In Canberra there are competing rowers in their 80s. Typical learners are teenagers or masters (anyone aged over 27), and learners in their forties are common. Rowing is excellent exercise for the whole of the body, being a low-impact sport involving aerobic conditioning and stretching..
Courses start regularly from spring until autumn. Contact our learn-to-row coordinator
for more information.
I'm looking for a club to join
If you want to join our club, the best way to make a decision is to come to meet us. Canberra is a city with a many defence force and other short-term residents, and we've often enjoyed their company. You will love our lake, Canberra's centrepiece.
